SEND Screening Assessments

SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) screening assessments are formal and informal methods to:

  • identify needs, potential SEND and understand a child's current learning profile

  • track progress and monitor a child's development and progress over time

  • pinpoint specific areas where a child needs support or intervention

  • provide information and data for applications for a Needs Assessment for an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP)

  • foster collaborative efforts between parents, teachers, and SEND agencies to ensure children receive the best support.

Assessments range from initial observations and informal methods, to formal, standardized diagnostic and cognitive assessments that provide a detailed profile of a child's strengths and weaknesses, helping to determine the most appropriate support and interventions.

I work with Senior Leaders in schools to support them in using their data (e.g. Cambridge Insight; GL Assessments) more effectively, by empowering them to understand why children and young people are not reaching their expected potential, and how they can make real changes to improve outcomes.
